Canada seeks collaboration with Portugal over legalisation of immigrants

After years in which ‘illegal’ Portuguese were deported, Canada is actively seeking to ‘regularise’ the million citizens it has from the EU and Eastern Bloc countries. To this end, it is seeking to collaborate with Portugal, to the “great satisfaction” of authorities, secretary of state of the communities José Luís Carneiro tells Lusa. Among ideas is a plan to introduce Portuguese as a foreign language in “various” Canadian provinces.
