Campaign launched for families to foster children at risk

There are currently 300 children under the age of 6 in Portugal “waiting for a foster family”. These are ‘children at risk’, removed from their birth families by the courts. Santa Casa da Misericórdia, the entity tasked with caring for them, is launching a campaign to try and incentivise families to step up and offer “love, affection, pampering, safety and protection”. According to reports, Portugal has “only 200 foster families in the whole country”, seeing it “occupying the last place in the European ranking” on fostering.
