Câmara reshuffle underway

PRESIDENT OF Lisbon Câmara, Carmona Rodrigues, is to take on the leadership of the city’s accounts formerly carried out by deputy president Fontão de Carvalho.

Carvalho was forced to suspend his mandate last week after having been accused of embezzlement and paying out illegal bonuses to urban planning company EPUL administrators.

Apart from the câmara’s financial and urban planning department, Rodrigues will also be in charge of auditing, supplies and insurance.

Câmara executive official, Marina Ferreira, widely tipped to be the next Lisbon President should another scandal rock Carmona’s administration, will take over as deputy president and take charge of the heritage/ patrimony department.
