MORE THAN 17 years after the project was first discussed, the new Lagos Câmara building broke ground recently, but news was overshadowed when it was announced that it would cost more than 39.2 million euros.
Covering an area of 2180sqm, the six-storey building will be constructed on the land where the old cork factory stood, at a cost of 16.3 million euros.
Once the building is open, Lagos câmara will mortgage repayments of 163,500 euros per month to the consortium, for a period of 20 years, which totals more than 39.2 million euros.
