Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA) Câmara and local hotel and tourist related business managers are to get together regularly to discuss ways of boosting tourism in the council.
The municipality hopes that the move will help integrate tourist agents into its investment options and periodically collect information on the council’s tourism performance.
VRSA Câmara has agreed with local entrepreneurs that the council would be taking part in at least one tourist fair aboard, either the Utrecht fair in Holland or the ITB Berlin fair in Germany, both considered important markets for the council.
Business owners have also requested that the câmara plays a more important role in working with the Institute for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity (ICNB) in order to make the Marshland Nature Reserve of Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António more open to tourism.
