What happens when you combine a doughnut with a burger? The result is the Big Kahuna Donut Burger, a calorific meal choice which will be available for visitors to the New York State Fair from August 25.
This fast food dream, or nightmare depending on your view point, is to retail at between US$5 and US$6 and contains a whopping 1,500 calories.
For those who take the plunge with the donut burger they will be treated to a quarter pounder burger nestled between slices of grilled, glazed donut and then topped with cheese, bacon, and for good measure and a few vitamins, tomato, lettuce and onion.
State fairs in the US are renowned for their offbeat combinations of food which have in the past included such treasures as fried jelly beans and chocolate covered bacon on a stick – move over deep fried Mars bars!
