Calming fish tank set up in Portimão’s cancer ward

Volunteers have finished setting up a large fish tank at the oncology ward of Portimão Hospital as a way of providing a more gentle atmosphere for patients, designed to improve their feeling of well-being. Head nurse Helena Mendes has said she hopes the calm given off by fish swimming in the tank will help take patients’ minds off the treatments and pain that they may be going through.

Entitled HOPE, the project owes its existence to and Associação Teia D’Impulsos.
