Following a stay in Portugal working as an artist in residence at Galeria Côrte-Real, Sarah Duncan has created a series of tranquil paintings.
Spending time along the Algarve coast she has produced images of the seaside using simple shapely forms.
Sarah was trained as a fine artist at Farnham College of Art in Surrey, now part of the University of Creative Arts.
Whilst there, she experimented with new techniques before developing her own distinctive style. The course was a formative experience that has led to a successful career.
Especially noted for using minimalist techniques, her paintings which are contemporary and small, graphically convey the calming atmosphere found in some of the Algarve’s quietest places.
She is one of 30 international artists and artisans whose work is promoted by Galeria Côrte-Real in Paderne.
Every weekend during the summer, complimentary wine and savouries are served to visitors on the gallery’s garden terrace.
The gallery is signposted from Boliqueime, Ferreiras and Paderne and is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 11am until 5pm. Call 912 737 762.
