Calling all photographers in Lagos

Each participant can submit up to three photos between May 1 and June 15

‘Lagos Cidade’ (Lagos City) is the name of a new digital photography contest which aims to challenge people to observe Lagos and its 450-year history.

Says the council, photographers are being challenged to capture everything from its “permanent and transitory aspects” to its landscape, its cultural and historical heritage or anything else that can be photographed and presented in celebration of its 450th anniversary since being named a city.

Each participant can submit up to three photos between May 1 and June 15, with prize money to be awarded to the top three photographers.

The winning photos will be exhibited at the 2023 edition of local sweets fair ‘Arte Doce’ and on the council’s website (www.cm-lagos.pt).

The photo contest is just one of a selection of events due to take place this year to celebrate the town’s 450th anniversary, including shows, exhibitions, conferences, and book presentations.
