A new look for an old favourite
As a big Dão fan, I’m aways on the lookout for something new but I will admit to only having bought this bottle of Cabriz Reserva because of the new label design.
Medium- to full-bodied in the traditional Dão style that has far more in common with French wine than most of what is found in Portugal, this really is great wine for the money, priced at less than €9 and widely available.
This is a typical Dão blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Alfrocheiro, fermented in stainless steel and aged in new French oak. The oak is very well integrated, hardly present on the nose and doing its job well to round the tannins altogether resulting in a very harmonious wine, fruity on the nose, soft in the mouth and with a long elegant finish. Enjoy with roast chicken or pork dishes.
