CUSTOMERS VISITING the first C&A store in the Algarve, at Forum Algarve shopping centre in Faro, on its opening day on Wednesday, October 25, will receive a 20 per cent discount on all purchases.

An official inauguration ceremony will be held between 9am and 9.30am, presided over by Norman Brenninkmeijer, a descendent of the company’s founding family and national director of C&A Portugal. Also expected to attend are the President of Faro Câmara, José Apolinário, and a local priest, who has been invited to bless the new store.

Every time a new C&A store is opened, the tradition is for the company to make a donation to a local children’s charity.

In this case, C&A has chosen to make a donation of 2,500 euros to Refúgio Aboim Ascenção, a children’s home in central Faro. Representatives from the home will be present at the opening to receive the cheque.

A company spokesman told The Resident: “This year was a very important year for C&A, as it celebrated the opening of its 1,000th store. Further openings in Portugal are planned for the near future. The company is particularly excited about opening its first store in the Algarve, as it sees the area as being a very important location due to its great popularity with tourists.”

The C&A store at Forum Algarve will boast a total area of over 1,000sqm and has taken the place of the Macmoda and Tribo stores on the ground floor, close to the Banco Espirito Santo, which closed in August.
