A black tie gala dinner in support of DebRA Portugal will be taking place at the Hilton Hotel in Vilamoura on October 29.
It is hoped that the event, which is being held to both raise funds and awareness about the rare genetic condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a condition in which the skin and internal body linings are so fragile that the slightest knock or rub causes painful, open wounds, will become an annual gala ball.
Children suffering from this condition in Portugal are now able to attend a clinic in Lisbon one day per month but organisers are looking to raise enough funds to meet the needs of every child and family affected by the disease in the country.
The cost of attending the Butterfly Ball is €600 for a table of 10, although individual tickets are available for €65 with the evening beginning at 7.30pm and including a three-course meal, live entertainment and an auction.
