Busy time for St Vincent’s Chaplaincy

This Sunday St Vincent’s Chaplaincy, the Church of England in the Algarve, will be remembering farmers and all those who work in the food industry at the last Harvest service of the season at St Luke’s Church at Palhagueira.

The service starts at 11.30am at the church, near Santa Bárbara de Nexe, and it will have a scarecrow theme.

The following week, the church will be marking All Saints Day on October 31 and two days later All Souls Eve on November 2.

Father Bob Bates said: “All Saints Day is when we remember all the good folk who have made the church what it is today but who have gone unrecorded, while there will be a quiet and meditative service to remember those who were close to us but we no longer see during All Souls Eve.”

Finally, the Chaplaincy is already preparing for Remembrance Sunday on November 14 where the central congregation will all join for a joint service at St Luke’s at 10.45am.

“We are very busy at this time of year but we hope that we can offer something for everybody during this season of reflection,” said Father Bob Bates.
