Students from International School São Lourenço in Almancil took part in The World Education Games in early March.
The top three classes for the World Spelling competition were Year 8, in first place followed by Year 3 and then Year 5. The top three students were Gemma Mountain (first place), James Sukurai-Hale (second place), both from Year 8, along with Jonathan Reid (third place) from Year 7.
Meanwhile, all Key Stage 3 students at the school participated in the Opening Minds programme for a week last month, which is a competence-based curriculum followed by many schools in the UK and internationally.
During the programme, all the students are placed into groups comprising of children from Years 7, 8 and 9 and are given a topic which forms the basis for their work. The current topic was “Drama”.
Each group was required to produce an original play script, a programme for their play, advertising posters and tickets based on the theme of “Homeless children”.
