A Matosinhos businessman fell four-storeys to his death after losing the key to his apartment. Avelino Leite, 49, made the fatal decision to try leaping from a neighbour’s balcony onto the veranda of his apartment, presumably where he had an open window.
But just before he jumped, he slipped and fell 10 metres onto concrete. He died on impact, falling with such force that he was “unrecognisable”, said his heartbroken sister Cidália Leite.
“It was a brutal fall,” she told reporters. “A complete tragedy.”
The father-of-one had been in the process of moving apartments, she explained, so almost no one in the area even knew him.
