More than one million people used Albufeira’s bus network GIRO last year.
Established nearly nine years ago, the network consists of a fleet of 10 buses, with a total of 168 stops at locations such as the marina, Páteo, Oura, Montechoro, all schools in the city and even the Ferreiras train station.
In a survey answered by 500 passengers, 75% said they were either “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the bus service because of the user-friendly timetable and number of buses available.
Councillor Carlos Quintino, who is responsible for roads, parking, mobility and urban transportation in the council, said the GIRO network has helped improve the quality of life of residents and visitors in Albufeira.
He believes GIRO buses are a good compromise between price and comfort but vowed to correct and improve any aspects that fell short of passengers’ expectations, such as the degree of ride comfort – 26% of respondees said they were “dissatisfied” with this.
