Burglar caught red-handed inside Vilamoura home

A 47-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after he was spotted by police using a flashlight to search for valuables inside a house in Vilamoura.

The suspicious sight led the GNR police officers, who were out on a regular patrol, to confront the man inside the house and arrest him.

The break-in took place while the house’s residents slept, but they soon awoke to confirm the man was indeed an intruder.

In his possession were “wallets, a camera and a portable speaker”, all of which were “returned to their legitimate owners”, the police force said.

The man, who has a record of similar crimes, appeared before a judge at Loulé’s criminal court and will now have to report weekly to his local police station.
