2013 was the “biggest and best” olive harvest since 1960 – netting €343 million in export revenue and exceeding last year’s figures by 32.2%.
In all, more than 627,000 tons of olive oil was produced – taking olive oil exports to second-place in the agro-food sector, topped only by wine.
Agro-food exports are also up by 6.6%, with the sector exporting over €5.1 billion worth of products in 2013.
