Bullfighting debated

A petition calling for the end of bullfighting in Portugal has been presented in Parliament by Portugal’s left-wing party Bloco de Esquerda, the only political group in favour of abolishing of the sport.

More than 7,000 people signed the petition opposing bullfighting, which they say “causes great stress, anguish, pain and fear to the bull”.

The petition was presented by MP Catarina Martins, who said her party had no reservations regarding the subject and said it would continue the fight, along with other animal rights groups, to end bullfighting in Portugal.
