Bullfighting ban

ANIMAL, the Portuguese animal rights association, has launched a campaign to try and convince Tavira Câmara to ban bullfights in the municipality.

According to Miguel Moutinho, president of ANIMAL, Tavira has no fixed site to host bullfights and no tradition of bullfighting in the area and this would, therefore, make it easier for the Câmara to enforce a ban on bullfighting.

The association has already presented the mayor of Tavira with a motion to ban bullfighting and is currently awaiting a response to this.
