Residents, businesses and shoppers at Buganvília Plaza near Quinta do Lago won a reprieve from recently introduced parking fees just in time for Christmas.
Since October, parking charges have been in operation at the complex, administered by Global Loulé on behalf of Loulé council.
Following complaints from customers, businesses from both Buganvília Plaza and neighbouring Quinta do Lago Shopping met with the mayor of Loulé in November to discuss their concerns.
And on December 22 Global Loulé suspended the charges. Although a date was not given for the charges to start again, businesses believe it could be in June.
Although campaigners were pleased with the about-turn, they still hope to get the parking charges scrapped completely and have vowed to continue the fight.
