Budget under attack

THE SOCIAL-DEMOCRATIC party in the Algarve has denounced the state budget for 2008 because it does not include a new central hospital for the region.

The regional branch of the social-democrats (PSD), led by the regional deputy Mendes Bota, accuses the government of going against a promise made by the Health Minister in July, when Correia de Campos said that the future Central Hospital was to be a reality.

The omission was reported by a special commission created by the Algarve’s PSD group, which has put next year’s budget “under the microscope.”
