Brussels sues Portugal for failing to implement plan to deal with effects of radiation

The European Commission has said it will be suing Portugal for failing to establish a national plan to deal with the risks of long-term exposure to radiation – a demand enshrined in European legislation. A statement released this morning states: “Today the Commission decided to sue Portugal at the Court of Justice of the European Union for not fully transposing the EU Basic Security Standards Directive (Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom) into national legislation”.
