Browns go Down Under

THE AUSTRALIAN  rugby union squad will be training in the Algarve prior to this year’s rugby world cup.

Australia, one of the best teams in the rugby union world at the moment, will be using Browns Sport and Leisure Club’s training facilities in Vilamoura from August 24, for six days in the week leading up to the start of the World Cup in France on September 7.

“It is really exciting news for us here at Browns,” Alan Brown told The Resident. “This is a fantastic boost to Browns and the Algarve as a whole and came about through my friendship with Eddie Jones – Australia’s coach at the 2003 World Cup and other members of the coaching staff. Eddie has also worked with Saracens, who have stayed at Browns, he recommended us to the Australian rugby union federation as the best place for the team to stay before the competition starts. We have hosted international teams before, but never any quite so big as Australia, we are all extremely excited.”
