A damaged guitar used by Kurt Cobain, the former front man of rock band Nirvana, during the their first US tour has been sold at auction for 69,400 euros.
The Fender Mustang was sold to an unidentified private collector, after it has been in the possession of a punk guitarist who had originally swapped it with the singer for a working guitar.
Jacob McMurray, senior curator at the Project, told Yahoo Music: “It’s smashed and held together with duct tape and Kurt Cobain wrote on it. There’s not a huge amount of broken Nirvana guitars out there.”
