Briton still in coma

A 72-year-old British man injured following a parking dispute remains in a coma on a life support machine at Lisbon’s São José hospital.

An altercation is said to have taken place in the main street of Almancil on Monday May 7 after the Briton double parked his car while returning a film he had hired from the Cinearte DVD store in Rua 5 de Outubro (as reported in The Resident edition of May 18).

It is thought a couple, also from Almancil’s international community, were the other parties involved in the incident.

The Resident contacted GNR chief, Major Antunes to find out if any progress has been made with regard to the investigation.

“I can confirm that the investigation is ongoing but I cannot make any comment at this stage due to the confidentiality laws relating to the justice system in Portugal.” Antunes would not confirm the identity of the other parties involved or if any charges had been brought against them.
