Briton attacked and robbed at his Almancil home

A British man was attacked and robbed while he slept at his home in Cerro do Galo, Almancil on February 18 according to reports in the Portuguese press.

Two men, armed with a gun and wearing hats and scarves to cover their faces, entered the British man’s home at around 10pm, said Correio da Manhã (CM).

The victim, whose identity has not been confirmed, told CM: “I was sleeping and was violently awoken. I didn’t even have time to think and got involved in a fight.”

He added: “There were punches and kicks and they had a gun and ordered me to lie on the ground, which I did.”

A GNR spokesman told the Algarve Resident that the robbers stole a laptop computer, a mobile telephone and credit cards.

The British man told CM that he had been burgled four times in the last four years.

“We had never been burgled but it is now happening with some regularity,” he said.

The case is now being investigated by the Polícia Judiciária.
