Briton arrested for mistreating dog and attacking youngsters in Lagos

A 31-year-old British man was arrested in Lagos last week after he was spotted mistreating his dog, and then attacked a group of youngsters who tried to stop him from hurting the animal.

One of the young men, an 18-year-old, had to be taken to Lagos Hospital with minor injuries.

It was around 11.30pm on Friday when the group confronted the man on Rua Lançarote de Freitas, says national tabloid Correio da Manhã.

The dog, described as being of a “potentially dangerous” breed, was “yelping and bleeding due to the man’s attacks”.

The Briton is said to have become “furious” when the group confronted him, attacking the youngsters and causing damage to several motorbikes parked nearby.

When PSP police arrived, they found the man with “bruises and scratches” and nervously searching for his dog.

The man was arrested and released under the “Termo de Identidade e Residência” regime, in which suspects are not allowed to leave their area of residence and have to be available whenever notified by the authorities.

According to CM, the dog was taken to safety by locals.
