Briton, 89, is third person to die from Covid-19 in Algarve

An 89-year-old British man has been confirmed as the third person to die while infected with the novel coronavirus in the Algarve.

Reports Correio da Manhã tabloid, the man owned a holiday home in Benagil, Lagoa, and is believed to have already been infected when he arrived in the Algarve in the first week of March.

He was being treated at Faro Hospital’s intensive care unit, it adds.

Lagoa Mayor Luis Encarnação has lamented the man’s death and sent his condolences to his family.
