A 62-year-old Briton suffering cardiac arrest was rescued from the sea at Martinhal beach, near Sagres, yesterday and airlifted for treatment to Portimão hospital.
The holidaymaker was swimming at the popular resort beach when he became unwell.
An INEM medical team is reported to have reanimated him before the man was rushed to hospital by helicopter.
