British woman felt unwell while walking out of sea at Albufeira beach
A 45-year-old British woman, described as a tourist, died after feeling unwell while walking out of the sea at Praia do Peneco beach in Albufeira on Wednesday.
Authorities were alerted at 1.15pm, says a statement released by the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
Members of the Portimão Maritime Police’s local Command, the ‘SeaWatch’ project and an INEM emergency vehicle were dispatched to the beach, but the woman’s death was declared on the spot after resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
The body was taken to Portimão’s legal medicine office by the Albufeira Bombeiros (firefighters) under the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
