Police are investigating the death of a British woman who fell from the fifth floor of her holiday apartment at Urbanização Mar e Serra in Alvor in the early hours of Sunday.
According to Portuguese daily newspaper Correio da Manhã (CM), the woman, 45, who has not been named, was on a two-week holiday with her husband, who was in the apartment when she fell.
A spokesman from Portimão Hospital said: “The body was taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Portimão where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.”
The Polícia Judiciária, who have already spoken with the husband, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
A spokesman from the PJ told the Algarve Resident: “We can confirm that we are investigating this death but cannot reveal further details about the case.”
The British Embassy told the Algarve Resident that they were aware of the case and had provided consular assistance to the family.
