British tour operators visit VRSA

Three British tour operators arrived in Vila Real de Santo António on Thursday this week for a three-day ‘fam trip’ to the municipality.

The purpose of the trip, organised by Odiana, an association for the development of the Lower Guadiana, and VRSA Câmara, was to promote the area’s sporting, health and wellbeing tourism products.

Visits to the sports complex, which is accredited by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), Monte Gordo and its beaches, the Mata Nacional das Dunas Litorais, a shrubland with trails that are popular among running fans, the historic fortress of Cacela Velha, a golf course and the Guadiana Naval Association were included in the programme prepared by the local entities.

The tour operators were also led by historian Hugo Cavaco during a visit to the VRSA historic city centre.

The ‘fam trip’ initiative is part of an agreement between Odiana and the Algarve Tourism Association, as set out in the current Comercialisation and Sales Plan (PCV), which is a national programme developed to assist regional tourism boards and businesses in the joint promotion of regions, through the presence at international fairs, commercial actions and new promotional channels.
