A British teenager who lost consciousness during a surfing lesson was revived on Monday afternoon at Galé Oeste beach in Albufeira.
Swift action was taken by her instructor, who pulled her out of the water and immediately began basic life support manoeuvres, said lifeguard association AllRescue.
The 16-year-old was resuscitated with the help of a defibrillator and doctors and nurses who happened to be at the beach. She was then taken to Faro Hospital.
