British skydiver survives power line landing in Portimão

A 43-year-old British skydiver was badly injured after colliding with a power line while trying to land at Portimão’s municipal aerodrome on Saturday afternoon (July 4).

The man was left hanging from the power line after his parachute got caught, a civil protection source told Lusa news agency.

Authorities had to cut power to the area before they could safely rescue him, added a source from the local firefighters.

The skydiver sustained serious injuries due to the accident, including burns to his lower body, and was taken to Portimão Hospital.
