British rapper Mist was taken to Faro hospital on Tuesday night after being shot during a suspected robbery at a villa at Quinta do Lago resort.
The rapper, whose real name is Rhys-Thomas Sylvester, was reportedly shot in the leg by “a group of two to three men with Irish accents” who broke into the villa at around 10pm and stole the rapper’s passport, phone, and jewellery.
The 27-year-old was taken to hospital by two friends while two police forces – GNR and PJ – investigated the villa to collect evidence.
A GNR police source has confirmed the incident and said that the investigation is now in the hands of PJ criminal police, who admitted that it is “too early to comment”.
A hospital source told the Resident today (Wednesday) that the rapper has already been released from hospital.
Mist, an award-winning rapper from Birmingham, had performed at the Afro Nation Festival in Portimão at the beginning of August.
He said in an interview after performing at the festival: “It’s been a beautiful experience, really nice. I’ve missed my flight back a couple of times so it must have been good.”
The rapper has faced trouble with the law in the past, having spent over 14 months in prison for driving without a licence and being involved in a police chase.
“A lot of people say prison makes or breaks you. I can say it made me. It made me look at life differently. I valued things that I never valued before in my life,” he said after the experience.
