A Thomson Airways twin-jet plane carrying 288 passengers and heading for Britain made an emergency landing at Lajes airbase in the Azores in the early hours of Tuesday morning due to technical problems. The transatlantic flight from the Dominican Republic was en-route for Manchester. All passengers were transferred to another plane, which then took them to their destination without further incidents.
