Attemps to revive the man were unsuccessful
A British man, 55, died after feeling unwell while walking out of the sea at Praia dos Alemães in Albufeira on Thursday.
Local firefighters were alerted at around 1.34pm that a man had gone into cardiorespiratory arrest on the beach, reports the national maritime authority (AMN).
By the time an INEM medical emergency team arrived on the scene, lifeguards and other beachgoers were already attempting to help the man.
INEM health professionals tried to revive the man but to no avail.
His death was declared on the spot and the body was taken by local volunteer firefighters to Portimão’s legal medicine office under the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
