British Consulate moves premises

THE BRITISH consulate will be opening to the public at its new premises opposite the Clube Naval in Portimão on Tuesday, December 9 at 9am.

Today (Friday) at 2pm, the consulate will be closing its doors for the last time at its current location.

British consul, Paul Rodwell told The Resident: “We are delighted about the move. The new location has much better parking, more air and space and a better working environment for the team.”

He said that the new consulate will give British residents and visitors a more professional and upgraded service, as well as catering for disabled users.

“I think this really shows the seriousness with which the government is taking the Algarve region,” he said.

An official inauguration of the new consulate is due to take place next year. “This is likely to happen in March but we haven’t got a date confirmed yet,” said Paul Rodwell. “The ambassador will come and several Portuguese dignitaries will also be invited.”
