British Charitable Funds

THE ANNUAL General Meeting of the British Charitable Funds (BCF) will take place at 6.30pm on Wednesday, May 30 at the Lisbon Casuals Clubhouse in the grounds of St Julian’s School in Carcavelos. The meeting is open to all BCF subscribers as well as to anyone interested in learning more about the work of the Funds.

The British Charitable Funds is run by a committee of 11 British nationals. In accordance with the Rules, HM Consul holds the ex officio position as Honorary Chairman. HM Consul is supported in that role, also in accordance with the Rules, by three ex officio Vice-Chairmen, representing the Greater Lisbon Chaplaincy, St. Andrews Church of Scotland and the Irish Dominican Fathers. The remaining seven committee members are elected annually at the AGM.

Any British national residing within the Lisbon Consular District is welcome to put his/her name forward to serve as a Committee member. Nominations for election should be made known to the Hon Secretary prior to the start of the meeting.

The purpose of the Funds is to give assistance to persons of British nationality, in proven need, who are permanently resident within the Lisbon Consular District which now includes the whole of Mainland Portugal and the islands of Madeira and the Azores.
