The board of directors and corporate members of the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (BPCC) invited chamber members to a reception to meet the newly appointed British Ambassador of Portugal, Mr John Buck, and his wife Jean, at the Ambassador’s temporary residence in Ajuda, recently.
Gathered together were the directors and management teams of some of the largest British-Portuguese multinational companies in Greater Lisbon. These included MG Rover Portugal, which had arranged a fine display of cars outside the main entrance to the residence.
The Chamber’s Chairman, Bruce Dawson, thanked the ambassador for his hospitality and the members for their presence. He then handed over to the ambassador, who received rapturous applause for his almost flawless presentation in Portuguese.
Speaking to many of the chamber members during the reception afterwards, they were all of one opinion that the British ambassador was already relishing life in Portugal and is “a man with his finger already on the pulse”.
