British actress promotes Portugal in tourism film

A film project to promote tourism in Portugal in general, and the Alentejo region in particular, was released this week at Lisbon’s tourism exhibition BTL (Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa) which runs until March 3.

The film, entitled ‘Alentejo, Time to be Happy’, features British actress and World Travel Awards host Ela Clark and is expected to be well received by international audiences for its “stunning scenery”, acting, script and music by Oscar nominated, Hollywood feature film composer, Nuno Maló.

The film, produced by Algarve-based company Flavour Productions and directed by Tito da Costa, aims to bring global attention to the wonders of Portugal, especially the Alentejo.

Ela Clark, who learned the ropes in acting for television in the UK’s medical drama television series Holby City, said: “I was astounded by the beautiful and varied Alentejo landscape as well as the amount of activities on offer. I had no idea! It is a secret gem many are not yet aware exists.”

Born in the UK but brought up in Portugal, Ela returned to the Algarve sunshine two years ago due to her love for the country. She is Portugal manager for Base Models London|Portugal, which is bringing international clients to Portugal, such as Littlewoods, B&Q and Callaway Golf, to shoot on location and hold fashion shows.

Ela was also the host at the World Travel Awards Europe Gala Ceremony 2012 held in the Algarve.

The publicity film, supported by Turismo do Alentejo, runs for six minutes and will be shown in cinemas around the country and released globally as far as Asia.
