Brit leaps to death with Portuguese partner over debts

The horrific discovery of two dead bodies at the foot of a Cascais apartment building yesterday morning appears to have been explained.

The couple – a 69-year-old Brit and his 54-year-old Portuguese partner – had “financial problems”, reports Correio da Manhã today.

James Sanders Frost and Maria Ramos had apparently left behind “letters of farewell” and a number of pills, says the paper.

Authorities’ take on the tragedy was that the pair carried out a ‘suicide pact’, both leaping from the terrace of their block willingly.

PJ police are still investigating, but the possibility of the fall being accidental has been discounted.

According to reports, the couple will have fallen some time before their bodies were discovered by a neighbour as he left for work in the morning.
