Brit in need of urgent treatment for chronic illness rescued from cruise ship off Portimão

A British cruise passenger who needed urgent medical care had to be rescued from the “Saga Pearl II” ship by a lifeboat crew off the coast of Portimão on Saturday.

The 75-year-old man was “conscious and stable” when the rescue team arrived, but he required specialist treatment for a “chronic illness”.

The passenger was taken to the lifeboat station in Ferragudo and rushed to Faro Hospital by ambulance.
