No plans appear to be in place by the government to renegotiate the public-private partnership (PPP) with motorway company Brisa. The president of the administration council, Vasco de Mello, said the company had not been contacted for any alterations to the concession contract. The Brisa contract, which was renegotiated in 2008 for a period of 27 years, was debated at a recent parliamentary commission inquiry on PPPs. Under the contract, Brisa is responsible for the construction, maintenance and running of 11 motorways using a pay-as-you-go toll system, with revenue going to the concessionaire.
