Warriors capped
Wigan slipped back into Rugby League’s relegation zone, after having two points deducted by an RFL judiciary panel for exceeding salary limits. Super League clubs are only allowed to spend a maximum of 50 per cent of their income on player’s wages and no more than 1.78 million pounds sterling. The Warriors moved off the bottom of the table since winning seven of their last eight games under coach Brian Noble and should still beat Wakefield to the drop.
Late win
Jens Voigt emerged victorious after the eighth, and final stage of cycling’s Tour of Germany in Karlsruhe. The win represents the 34-year-old CSC first major career success.
Six up
World rally champion, Sébastien Loeb, had to endure a 10 week wait to avenge his Acropolis defeat by only serious rival Marcus Grönholm, but did so in no uncertain terms in Germany. The Citroën driver took five of the eight first day stages to set up his sixth win of the season and extend his championship lead.

The 20-year-old son of former England opener Chris Broad was instrumental in the semi-final rout of favourites Essex, and has been named in the provisional 30-man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy in India.
