Ten days since his fatal jump from Porto’s iconic D. Luís I bridge, the body of US tourist Mike Rutkowski has finally been recovered from the Douro river.
Say reports, it was sighted early this morning, floating near the city’s maritime customs point.
For the 34-year-old’s family members who travelled from the United States to accompany searches, this will be the closure they were hoping for.
As cousin Tom Toto told us last week: “Mike was an adventurer”.
Newspapers explained that the young American had been watching youngsters jumping from the bridge, and just wanted to experience the thrill for himself .
Says CMTV this morning, an autopsy will now go ahead.
