Breathing-related diseases killed 50 a day in 2012

Breathing problems killed an average of 50 people per day in 2012, a 17% increase compared to the previous year, says a report by the National Respiratory Diseases Observatory (ONDR).
Nearly 14,000 people died in 2012 due to respiratory issues, while lung, bronchial and windpipe cancer took the lives of 4,012.
The authors of the study said the results were “worrying” due to the “abrupt increase” in mortality.
