A 36-year-old Brazilian man is due in court today accused of the murder of 57-year-old businessman Mário Luiz Oliveria whose badly decomposed body was found buried in a cesspit weeks after having gone missing. Police are still trying to understand the motive for the crime. The suspect, Geovani Ferreira Gomes, has apparently given “many versions” of what appears to have happened. People who know Geovani Gomes have been described as shocked by his arrest, saying he “always seemed a peaceful man”. Reports suggest investigations could last six months. An autopsy will also have to take place, and due to the state of the body, “this could take weeks”, and may still prove inconculsive.
