Brave rescue

A GROUP of nine children and two adults, all Portuguese, on board a boat had to be rescued on Monday afternoon after it drifted into dangerous waters in a cave near Portimão.

They had experienced engine troubles out at sea and raised the alarm with local lifeguards.

They drifted towards a cave and the tide began to slam the boat against the side. They were rescued around 30 minutes after they raised the alarm and safely transported to Portimão marina.

The maritime police said that the boat was moments away from being completely destroyed when they arrived.
